Clean Up City of St. Augustine, Florida

The City of St. Augustine, Florida dumped the contents of the old illegal city dump and put it into the Old City Reservoir.
No permits.
I reported it to the National Response Center on February 17, 2006 (Report No. 788280).

EPA and Florida DEP investigators arrived on February 27.

I asked City Commissioners questions about it, never receiving "answers" that then-Mayor GEORGE GARDNER promised.

The City dumped even after the criminal investigators arrived.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP, a/k/a "Don't Expect Protection") inexplicably delayed its assessment of $47,248 in fines and penalties until AFTER the November 7 city election, assuring re-election of the ancien regime responsible for the illegal dumping.

So far, no one has been charged for the massive dumping -- enough to fill in six Olympic-dized swimming pools to a depth of six feet.

The EPA Inspector General, FDEP Inspector General and Governor's Inspector General are investigating a possible coverup.

We need a grand jury to subpoena and consider indictments of City officials for environmental crimes.
